Breast uplift surgery lifts and reshape breasts that have begun to sag due to factors such as ageing, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss of gain, or genetics. This procedure can improve the position of the breasts, lifting them up for a more youthful look.
A breast lift is also known as mastopexy, and it’s a procedure which reshapes and lift the breasts if they’re sagging.
During breast uplift surgery, your surgeon makes incisions around the areola and may extend these vertically down the breast and along the breast fold. Excess skin is removed, the breast tissue is reshaped, and the nipple and areola may be repositioned for a more youthful appearance. Afterwards, your breasts and nipples are lifted to a higher position, and the skin is tighter, giving you firmer breasts.
A breast lift can be combined with breast implants, which will add volume to your breasts, or a breast reduction, which will reduce their size.
If you’re not happy with how your breasts look because of their shape and how they droop, breast uplift surgery could provide a solution. If your breasts dropped post-pregnancy or due to breast feeding, if you have nipples which point downwards, or if your breasts are asymmetrical, then this procedure may help you to have perkier, firmer breasts. In order to have any kind of surgery, you should be over the age of 18 and in generally good health.
You’ll spend the night in hospital following your breast uplift surgery, so that we can make sure that your initial recovery period goes well. You should arrange in advance for a friend or family member to come to collect you the next day, as you won’t be able to drive yourself, and as you’ll need support in your first days after surgery, they should help you get settled at home.
After a mastopexy, you’ll have to take at least 2 weeks off work, although this could be longer depending on what your role entails. Rest up for the first few days after treatment, and avoid driving for at least a week. And it’s important that you don’t carry out any strenuous activity or intense exercise for the first 4 weeks after your breast uplift.
In the initial 6-12 week time period, you’ll wear a compression bra day and night, and should only remove it to have a shower when your incision sites have healed.
It can take up to 12 weeks to make a full recovery from breast lift surgery, and you can expect to see your final results around this time.

Breast uplift surgery primarily helps with the position and shape of the breasts. If you’re looking for a change in breast size, you can discuss this with your surgeon, as it may be possible to combine the uplift with a breast augmentation or reduction.
Yes, scars are inevitable after any kind of surgery and breast uplift surgery is no different. However, your surgeon will do all they can to minimise scarring, and the scars will fade over time.
Some discomfort is to be expected after the procedure, but pain is typically managed with medication during the initial recovery period.
Breast uplift surgery can sometimes affect milk ducts and, potentially, impact breastfeeding. It’s important to discuss your plans for future pregnancies and breastfeeding with your surgeon during your consultation.
It’s generally advisable to wait until you’ve finished breastfeeding and your breasts have stabilised in size before considering breast uplift surgery. This is usually a few months to a year after giving birth.
While breast uplift surgery can provide long-lasting results, factors such as aging, gravity, and lifestyle choices can impact the breasts over time.
